  • Jessica  - Requesting Autographs

Thank you so much for this wonderful site! I'm a relatively new RA "convert", as I began watching Robin Hood early last year. As Guy, Richard definitely got my attention. Since then, I've been getting my hands on everything I can that he's done. His acting range is impressive. His face is so expressive and his voice so emotional. It's a real joy to watch him - helps that he's so easy on the eyes too! I've watched his appearances in Vicar of Dibley multiple times, and catch myself grinning ear to ear all the way through! His smile melts my heart ;)

I'd love to write to his agents to try to get an autographed picture, but have never done anything like this before. I'm in the US, so I know I should send an IRC inside the envelope, but should I also send an envelope large enough for an 8x10 photo? Or should I include a regular legal size envelope?

Again, thanks so much for your site! I am enjoying getting my daily RA fix here :)

Hi Jessica, yes you should send an envelope large enough for an A5 picture, which equates to 5.8 x 8.2 inches.
    Thanks for visiting,
    Ali

  • Ruth  - Stumbled across North and South: superb!

Theater friends around the world: I recently retired and finally had time to view a copy of "North and South," given to me by a friend. As a forever theater goer and fan (my dear mom took me to Stratford, Canada's Shakespeare festival when I was 8), I was stunned by the subtle, moving, and totally believable performance of Richard Armitage (whom I hadn't seen before) as John Thornton (as well as the wonderful rest of the cast). Honestly, I could almost believe that "John T" was alive and well and living in the north of England. Kudos to this thoughtful, brilliant, and compelling artist. When are we going to see him on the stage Stateside?

  • Kathy  - Kathy - Australia

Thanks for your detailed website. I enjoy catching up on the news through your constant updates. Just recently viewed the N&S behind the scenes gallery and noticed what appears to be a cigarette in Richard's right hand in photo no.33.Just wondering what you think?

    Yes that's what it is.

  • Anonymous  - Christmas wishes

Hi! I just wanted firstly to say what a brilliant site this is and appreciate all the hard work that goes into it! :) I just wanted to ask if there would be any way of sending our Christmas wishes to Richard (similar to how we posted wishes on here for his 40th birthday), especially as he is in beautiful New Zealand at the moment. Also, I just wondered if anyone else had received a response from him yet for the birthday cards and letters that were sent to him via his agents? I appreciate he has been busy working in NZ and his last message did mention this and the fact that there would be some delay, but I was just curious as to whether anyone had received a response yet. So many questions (sorry!) but I would appreciate your help. Many thanks! :)

Hi there, thanks for your comments. The cast finishes filming a week before Christmas according to reports, so I should imagine that the cast will be travelling home to their families. So in terms of sending Christmas wishes, I have no plans to do that on this site and would suggest that any messages to Richard should be directed via his agents (see the top of this page for the address). However, Richard has stated in the past that donations to his charities would be preferable rather sending him gifts - links are under the pic of the day on the home page.

I have no idea if anyone has heard from Richard recently, perhaps others can tell us, but I'm sure we can all appreciate the reasons for any delay. :)

  • dale  - Problems with screen caps

Robin Hood series one, episode 8, Tattoo what Tattoo there is no picture when I go to enlarge it, all the smaller ones are there. Have not used admin help as it keeps asking me to use outlook wizard and I'm not sure what that means.

Hi Dale, sorry about that, it's all fixed now.

  • Nina  - OMG !

love richard need i say more !

  • Tania  - Richard in NZ

Hiyas! I'm a relatively new Richard fan from New Zealand. I knew of Richard from Robin Hood and the Vicar of Dibley but (silly me)didn't really appreciate this georgeous man till I saw North & South (which contains the most romantic scene to any film/drama I have ever seen!!) - awwwww that look? (I'm sure you know what I mean), those beautiful blue eyes and the sexy voice. I have now bought the box sets of Robin Hood and Spooks and just finished watching Strike Back which was on our screens. I'm now looking forward to the video diaries and updates of The Hobbit. You wouldn't happen to know if Richard is back in Wellington for filming? Its hardly likely I will bump into him (wishful thinking), but its nice to know he's in the country and I can keep a lookout hehe. Great site btw.

Hi Tania, yes Richard has been in NZ for a few weeks judging by various tweets on twitter but they could not be verified. However Stephen Fry tweeted a fan after Richard's birthday saying he'd had a nice dinner with him (link here) so yes he's definitely back in Wellington. Ali

  • Tania  - Richard in NZ

Hi Ali, thanks for the reply :) Being a kiwi, I would just like to say after watching Richard speak at the powhiri for the Hobbit that his pronounciation of the Maori language was very impressive (complete with the rolling 'r's) :P I'm still getting used to the beard. I would have thought that a fake beard (for Thorin) on top of his own beard would be quite difficult to put on and off  Still, even with all the make-up, they can't hide those beautiful blue eyes. Thorin is one sexy dwarf! :D

  • kirsty

  • Margaret Mcnamara  - Richard's Bio

Hi am a new American fan and I noticed there is not much personal information about Richard. Is he married? has he ever been married? Is there anyone special in his life, man or women? Thank you so much.

    Hi Margaret, thanks for visiting!
He is single and has not yet married and he keeps his private life private. You won't find much information on that score in the media or on here as that information is kept to himself.
    Ali

  • Ava  - GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS!

I just 'discovered' Richard when I saw him on the netflix MI5. Wow! Really enjoyed the whole show. My eyes were happy looking at him though!
American directors/producers need to further their scope for this talented man. Get him in American film/movies and let him wow even more!

Thank you ladies for this site! I'm currently watching North & South and had to look him up and your site is awesome!

  • alanna

im another american fan and im completly amazed with talent of this man. i was "converted" after finding and watching richard (john thornton) in North and South. i wish we had actors as good as him in the US. thankyou so much you have done an incredable job on this site, i LOVE coming on and finding out the news. again thankyou so much.

    Thanks for visiting Alanna, Ali

  • yogourty

Never heard of this actor before especially here in Canada. I was bored one evening and so i click on the netflix and ordered to watch the north and south only to discover this guy Richard Armitage (John Thornton)i think he is a very talented actor and also good looking with a voice that is very soothing. i think i watch north and south few times. He should be allowed to father lots of kids to spread his good looks and talent and his genes. I am now a new fan. Can anyone tell me more of other films from Richard Armitage. thank you.

Hi there! For a full list of RA's work see the RA on DVD page (in the menu or at top of the page) or for more details about most of his work, click Career at the top of the screen. Ali

  • Liz  - You girls are amazing!

Hi Girls, like Alana, I've only recently discovered the existence of this extremely talented and beautiful man. (Seriously, I've been in London 5.5 years how could I have missed him?) I started on this website for my ahem mum, ;) as she adores Spooks and you girls keep the most up to date info as to when it's screening in Australia (she got very excited when I told her Spooks S9 was going to show - she loves Lucas). Needless to say, I am now a complete Mr Armitage convert, and I love sneaking a peek on this lovingly organised website - especially for the pics of the day, the interview archives and the tidbits of news, and as I am moving back to Oz next week, it's nice to know mum and I have a great way to keep up with RA news and interviews. As a new RA fan I thank you for your hard work and dedication in making this gorgeous man more accesible to all us dreaming girls.
    Lxx

  • margie  - New RA fans

May I suggest watching some really different RA work such as the DVD of "The Impressionists" where Richard plays the young Monet, North and South for great historical drama and for fun The Vicar of Dibley Christmas special (where even he cannot keep a straight face beside Dawn French). But for sheer rock god delight, I don't think you can go past Guy in Robin Hood. Just what was Maid Marion thinking when she chose a school boy over Richard?????? ;)

  • Alana  - New convert here!

I just very recently, as of 2 weeks ago, discovered the very talented and sexy Mr. Armitage. What a find, indeed! It was really quite by accident. I found "North & South" on Amazon and thought that the actor on the cover was Gerard Butler. I don't know if the cover is the same for everyone but on the one here in Canada, Richard looks a lot like Gerry Butler, IMO. Anyway, now I'm hooked. I'm almost finished Richard's first season of "Mi-5" which is incredible and am looking forward to seasons 8&9 and everything else I can get my hands on. Thank you for such an amazing website. Keep up the great work!

Reply from Ali: welcome Alana, thanks for visiting. Click on 'RA on DVD' or 'Career' at the top for a full list of Richard's work

  • Sophie  - Thanks

Hi, I'm yet another American fan (recent "convert";), and I want to thank you ladies for this lovely website. It's really thorough, and gives so much info to us neophytes. :cheer: I juste recently went through all the messages directly from RA (or a rep?) on the other website, and am bowled over by how sweet, funny, intelligent he is! And that he reached out to his fans to share that. Great.

Much thanks to you and RA.

  • yolliattoronto

Strike Back was broadcast here in Canada in Sept but the Showcase channel advertised it as Wallender so I am sure many people missed it. I now check every Wallender in case....!

  • Machu  - Request for signed picture

    Hi,
I do like to have a signed picture.
As I am in India could you please inform me; What amount of IRC will be required?
Also can we send the pictures to be signed, I did like Richard to sign one of my son's picture :)

Reply from Ali: Sorry I don't know how much the IRC will cost. You'll need to ask your postal service in India unless anyone sees this comment and can help you.

Regarding the picture, yes I'm sure Richard will sign a picture you send. I know he has done that for other people in the past.
