Susie: Spooks 9 series starting in September

Great news about Spooks, not long now! Our Lucas looks rather menacing in the photo shoot doesn't he? Sounds like we can expect some intriguing storylines, with Richard's character taking centre stage! Love it!

Sandra C: MI5

In response to Adriean Evetts.  I am in Phoenix Arizona and MI5 series 8 is currently showing on PBS.  I hope you get it in your area as he is wonderful as Lucas North.  Otherwise I get as much of his work as I can through Netflix.  He is a wonderful actor and I never tire of watching him.

Brenda Duthie: Mrs

Richard is the finest actor in Britain today. Just compare  the characters John Standring, John Thonton, John Mulligan and John Porter. What a superb range of characters. I am also a great lover of the audio books Richard has recorded in that  chocolate voice. The man's talents are endless.

Susie: Repeats of Strike Back on Sky1 TV

Sky don't seem to be wasting much time in repeating the brilliant series Strike Back (thanks for the info Ali) which can only be a good thing and bodes well for a second series.

I notice that Sky have filmed a new series on the Sky Art HD channel about celebs who onced played instruments to revisit their past and to dust their instruments down and play them again. I just wish that they'd asked Richard to take part in such a show, after all he was in a youth orchestra in times gone by. He did say in an interview he'd taken his cello out of the loft and decided to play again. Or maybe he'd choose his flute, or even the guitar? So many instruments and so little time! C'mon Richard let's see how good you are on the old cello and add another string to your bow !(No pun intended, well not much!)

Adriean Evetts: have a question

Well I hope you can answer my question.. I love your series M I-5! And would like to see volume 8, but I'm in the USA and have no idea how to be able to see those. I love your character in it and would love to see more. Do You know when it will be available to us? Also I just finished watching Robin Hood, Loved you in that as well. I cried when your character died, Great show!! I will miss it. I love you as an actor and would like to see you in more films. Very Talented!! May you have a fantastic day(:

MWWong: Miss

I came across North and South last month by accident.  Richard is up there with a few of the best actors in the film industry.  He was able to make millions of women fall in love with him in N&S.  I love his voice, his nose and his general good looks.

I could only watch Richard in the youtube.  I watch him as Monet.  I love looking at paintings but I didn’t like impressionist paintings.  After watch the series, I look at impressionist paintings differently.   I love most of Monet’s paintings now and paintings by other impressionist.  I have Richard to thank for.

Teresa Martin: Miss

Well what can I say about Richard Armitage, he is brillant in Strike Back and cant wait for series 2.  He is awesome in Robin Hood and Spooks - waiting for Series 9 to appear on tv.  Even his voice is appealing - Sky Sports and Santander adverts, also the when he does the voice over in Homes for Hell - please keep up the good work xx

cathy: Please NO

I the way RA does not go for the undercurrent manipulative seductive quality that would be cheap . Pimps kinow just how to do it. Even in what I heard of Lovelace s voice it is not slimmy.

What I found really seductive was yesterday's picture of the gentle kiss from NA. Such magnitism, such goodness, such anticipation of bliss and yet withhelove ld and moderated with dignity.  I almost jumped into the picture

AS for Convenient M. It takes a lot of concentration for me to pull it apart.I have listened to it twice but it will take me longer to get to the core.

Incidently the word SALOON in the USA is more like a gritty old pub than a parlor. It tickles me when I hear him say the word in such a houghty towdy setting

AAIT: Convenient Marriage

Hello everyone

Have just finished listening to The Conveient Marriage which only arrived here inOz a few days ago. Loved the way he brings such diversity into each character  & his perfection in emulating each type.

Now if he would read Styepanie's Laurens "A season for Marriage"  I would be in seventh heaven; as there are a few pages of seduction  that with that seductive voice would set my heart truly uflutter as the heroine. Cheers.Andrea.Oz.

Susie: Second series of Strike Back

Thanks for the link to the Guardian about the confirmed new series of Strike Back. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to John Porter. I'm not surprised they've commissioned another series, they'd be daft not to. Mind you that new Sky1 series Prison Break, which seems to have now been shifted to Sky3 was absolute crap! I doubt that another series of that will be commissioned.

Does this mean he won't be going on stage?

Reply from Ali: Hi Susie, I'm wondering myself when and if the stage play will happen and I'm afraid we've heard nothing so far, but of course any news will go on the site the minute I hear anything. Wonderful news about Strike Back!

Susie: Strike Back Series 2?

Thanks for putting the link up to the Mirror article about possible locations for a future series 2 of Strike Back. Personally I think it's a foregone conclusion that there will be another series, as the first one was so darn good!

Maybe scriptwriters will consider sending John Porter over to North/South Korea to sort things out! Pity John Porter is a fictional character, we could do with someone like him around, especially if he looks as good as Richard shirtless (and bottomless!)

Brochlass: To Linda from Oz

Thank you so much for letting me know about the Strike Back DVD.  I was glad to hear you received it safely and that it played well for you.  I too am a bit suspicious of its legality coming from Canada via Singapore and I was a bit worried about ordering it on line and giving out credit card information.  I learned the hard way how discs that appear to be genuine turned out not to be when it came from that area of the world.  I may just try to be patient and wait for series 8 to be released here, hard though that is to do!  Thrilled to see in the "News" section that it appears there will be a series 10 of Spooks, but the scary question is - will Lucas be in it??  We can only hope!!

Linda from Oz: To Brochlass

Brochlass, I received Spooks 8 DVD set, and it played well on my DVD player. Fantastic series! Can’t wait to see Spooks 9!

I have serious doubts about its legality though. Why would a company based in Canada be sending me DVDs from Singapore?? I did think that ordering from what looks like a reputable company, which openly advertises its products, that the goods would be the real thing.

cmg: audio suggestion

There is a fairy tale by Oscar wILDE CALLED The HAPPY PRINCE.

There had been a recording done by Orson Welles that I listened to while my father was away in WWII. It became a part of me and is a beautiful story.

Unfortunately my guess is that with Wildes notorious homosexuality his fairy tales are passed over.  They are truly wonderful and sparkle with wit and compassion,

Richard could handle the readings marvelously

cathy: question

I need to pay about $15 to send a large envelope to the UK with my self addressed envelope (including an International Stamp This was only $3.00) It is running into money and I would like to know what the

likelyhood is that I will receive an autographed picture from United AGENT?

Reply from Ali: extremely likely Cathy, I know many people who have received a autographed picture after requesting one and I'm sure you will get one too.

Susie: BBC Breakfast show move from London to Salford Quays

I've just heard that the BBC are to transfer their breakfast show from London to Salford Quays in Manchester, which makes me wonder, will Richard venture out of the relative safety of London and be giving interviews in Salford instead? I hope so! Unlike those lucky fans that live in and around London I've not been able to get a glimpse of Richard entering or leaving the studios when conducting his round of relentless interviews publicising Spooks/Strike Back, but who knows I may yet get a quick peep of him on the Salford horizon now!

I can, however, promise Richard that I will behave with the utmost propriety.(Yeah some chance!) He can also rest assure that if I do throw any pants at his window, i'll still be in 'em!!!

We can but live in hope!

Susie: Ricky Deeming in George Gently

I notice that your pic of the day is a photo of Richard in his role as Ricky Deeming. The BBC have been reshowing the George Gently series lately and am patiently waiting for the episode where Richard appears as Ricky Deeming. I can't say that it is my favourite Richard role, but I love those leathers! Hope I don't have to wait too long to get a glimpse of those pecs as he breaks up those old car batteries with a sledge hammer. (He certainly recharges mine that's fore sure!)

Can any one tell me the name of the horse that Richard rode in Robin Hood? I have a Little Guy and his Horse, but I can't just call him "Horse". I kinda felt stupid when, while watching RH on  the pc, I said "Watch it Horse, you've just chucked the most gorgeous Guy in the forest."

Thank you so much for the info regarding the Spooks 8 DVD.  I'll be very interested to know if it plays okay.  I too am from the UK originally and know what you mean!  They are so fortunate to have access to all RA's work - maybe even see him on stage!  Lucky people!!  If only he would have pity on us and appear on the big screen sometime soon!

Brochlass: To Susie - Re Strike Back

I can't understand either why neither Richard nor Spooks made it onto the final list for the TV choice awards.  Maybe next year they will recognize real talent and choose RA AND Strike Back!!  It would indeed be wonderful if Richard would narrate an audio book of Strike Back - even an abridged version - anything to listen to his voice!!

Susie: Advert for Sky Sports HD Channel

I saw the advert for the Sky Sports channel last night and couldn't believe my ears! Not more voiceover work I thought, then I read your updated news Ali on the website, and yes Richard has indeed been at it again, putting those dulcet tones to good use! I assume that all this voiceover work has been done on his day off from filming Spooks 9, poor lad is going to work himself to death if he's not careful. Mind you if you've got it, flaunt it, I say. You can't get enough of a good thing can you girls?

Linda from Oz: Spooks 8 DVD

Brochlass, I have found Spooks 8 on a Canadian website www.dvdscollection.com Being in Australia, I also get frustrated having to wait for so long to watch the UK productions (it’s especially frustrating because I am from the UK but now live down under!), so I went hunting and found this website. The Spooks 8 dvd they have is ‘Worldwide region’ so should play ok on my dvd player. I am eagerly awaiting delivery, and will let you know when it arrives if it plays okay.

What a lovely surprise to find this addition to the 'News'!  Aren't we so lucky to have an additional taste of A Convenient Marriage..Thanks, Ali - Naxos certainly knows how to please the fans.

The first two chapters are a real delight - especially chapter 2...Richard's readings are just wonderful - his Rule just makes me giggle as he responds to sweet Horatia... I think this might replace Venetia as my favorite!

August won't come too soon for me.Kiss

CG: Best

Embarassed this is the best fansite. It is so tasteful and smart. I really want the very best for Richard and his career and your site relects the values that have attracted me to his work. Yes, looks open the door but I get excited when I see the way he crafts his work. He seems sophisticated enuf to pass on a lot of  mediocrity and go for genius.

Susie: Strike Back

Brochlass,

I'm glad Strike Back is getting world-wide showings, despite not making it onto the final list for TV Choice Awards. (The best series never do, despite high ratings which tell a different story).

I bought the DVD of Strike Back and it was fantastic! I was curious to know what changes the scriptwriteres had made to the original Chris Ryan story and so I've just starting listening to the audio book, recorded in 2007, which is narrated by the actor Colin Mace. I've only just finished the first disc (there are nine, lasting over nine hours in duration) and I can't help wishing that they'd filmed the series differently and started the story showing the abysmal life John Porter was living (sleeping rough and drinking to numb the pain of the past). I feel sure they could have introduced this into the storyline somehow and perhaps filmed what happened during the Bratton extraction as flashbacks and dreams during bouts of drinking or sobriety.  Okay there would have been the problem of getting John Porter "match-fit" again after years of alchohol abuse etc. but it would have made for a much more interesting and heart-rending story. I'm sure Richard would have done wonders with a script like that. At least he wouldn't have had to wear that ridiculous wig and security guard uniform at the beginning! The actor Colin Mace does a wonderful job of narrating the audio book, and actually his voice sounds fairly similar to Richard's in tone and quality and is also able to do various Welsh and Yorkshire dialects of the characters. However, he does have a slight London accent, which I'm afraid does tend to irritate me when listening to the story a little. I can't help but wish that the powers that be would re-release another audio book of Strike Back with Richard doing the narration. That would be absolute bliss. (Well they've re-printed the book of Strike Back, using Richard's photo from the series on the jacket, so why not indeed?)

Brochlass: Strike Back in Canada!

I could hardly believe my eyes when I did my "first-thing-in-the-morning" check of this fantastic website on June 22nd to see that Strike Back is to be shown in Canada in November!  I think I may actually have squealed so it was good no one was around to hear!!  I had thought that there might be a slight possibility of the DVD for this region being released sometime next year and was wondering how I could survive until then.  "Showcase" is a specialty channel here and not on the normal cable package so I will have to find out how to subscribe to it.  It may "bankrupt" me but it will be worth every cent!!  Either that or find a friend or family member who already has that channel and camp out at their place for three weeks!  After all, anything is better than having to wait for the DVD.  It is hard when you don't live in the UK as quite a number of things that RA has been in are never made available here. This terrific site is a godsend for all of us who adore this incredible actor.  I know that videos that are posted on YT contain "spoilers" but how can one resist watching anything that has Richard in it?  I scour the internet constantly for any little snippet from Strike Back that I can find.  He looks so amazing as John Porter and I love him in the camo and the khaki or for that matter whatever he wears (or doesn't as the case may be!).  He just becomes the person he is portraying which shows just how extremely talented he is although I'm sure it must take a lot out of him.

Like many others I became an ardent follower after seeing North and South and even more so when I bought the DVD of it so that I can watch it over and over.  Of course I had to buy all three series of Robin Hood, series 7 of Spooks and now eagerly await series 8 to be released for this region also. Why do they have to be so slow to do this and what is the problem releasing them for other regions other than the UK???  Watching a series on TV would never stop me from buying the DVD for it, if that is what they are afraid of.  On the contrary, it would make me want it even more!  Sadly some of the programs he has acted in never make it to our TV's here.

Last night I watched the DVD of a movie which was billed as a "rare Hollywood romance" and I kept thinking how much better RA could have played the part of the male lead.  The guy just didn't act with his eyes like he can.  Someone commented that Richard doesn't actually have to speak - much as we love to listen to his voice - as it is all there in his eyes.  I found a wonderful quote by a Spanish poet, Gustavo Adolfo Becquer, and thought how much it applied to him.  He wrote,

"The soul that can speak through the eyes can also kiss with a gaze."

Don't you just love that?  It was demonstrated in such an amazing way in the final scene of North and South at the train station.  Hardly a day goes by without me watching that scene at least once.  He just made love to "Margaret" with his eyes.  Imagine being looked at like that!  Lucky Daniela!!  How could anyone resist falling for him?  Talk about becoming
mush!!  I thought that at my age I couldn't possibly "fall" for anyone so many years my junior and an actor to boot.  I get teased about it unmercifully by my children, grandchildren (yes, I am that old!) and friends but it seems nothing can "cure" me, and if I am honest, I don't believe I want to be.  Roll on November!  Can hardly wait!

Susie: Richard interview in Digital Spy

Just read the interview with Richard about Spooks. So what's wrong with Manchester? He's looking for a knuckle butty is that one, and he'll get it if he shows his face in Manchester!!! (Only joking!) Maybe Lucas will get his head severed instead! (Perhaps he'd prefer that to being decamped to Manchester!)

Thanks for the link Ali!

Linda from Oz: Strike Back down under

Yayyyyy! for the news that Strike Back will be appearing on our screens in Australia soon. I can't wait! I hate having to wait for ever to see all the shows our gorgeous man is in, Robin Hood 3 is only being shown now and Spooks 8 is still a long way off. It's enough to make me consider returning to the UK to live (don't think my hubby would be happy about that though!). Does anybody have any more news about RA going to work in LA?

Technical question - I've lost the Log In link on the site. Has it been moved?

Thanks for all the lovely pics!

Reply from Ali: Yes, great news for all Australian RA fans! No, there is no more news about RA going to LA and yes, the log in link has been removed. More info on the News page, 12th June. Thanks Linda.

Susie: Richard voiceover for new Santander Advert?

I've just been watching the Sweeney on ITV4 and have seen a new advert for Satander during the commercial breaks about switching to their new current account. Richard did the voiceover (recognise those dulcet tones anywhere!). Is this a new advert? I haven't seen (or should I say heard) this one before.

Reply from Ali: Yes it's new Susie. I caught it on GOLD tonight, there's a link on the News page.

Susie: The Alexander Technique

Ali,

Thanks for the info about the book Strike Back. They must be expecting to sell more since it's been made into a series by Sky.

Tamsin,

Richard himself has talked about using the Alexander Technique, which is quite on old relaxation method, similar to Yoga. I remember Richard saying that he practised this between breaks of filming Strike Back and that everytime he closed his eyes to do this (and covered them with a book apparently) he fell asleep. He must have been knackered poor lad!

To be honest I think most British servicemen/women over here relax by having a swift half/ pint or two at the pub. I can't imagine our macho British men admitting to doing yoga somehow.

I used to do yoga myself many moons ago and it is very relaxing and a good healing method. You also have to be extremely supple to get into some of those yoga positions. I think I'm a bit old and rickety to do that any more. Maybe I should take up the Alexander technique instead it sounds much more my thing. Lie down and go to sleep and dream of RA? Yes it sounds good to me!!!!

Tuesday, 22 June 2010

Tamsin: yoga or no?

Can anybody tell me if they've read/heard if RA practices yoga or meditationi?

For those of you in the UK who can watch Strike Back, does John Porter practice yoga or mediation?

I am curious about this. Yoga Journal here in the USA had an article this month about how service men and women in the US are engaging in these as healing treatment for PTSD. Namaste to them all, and to all of you.

OMMMMMMMMM

Susie: BAFTA's

I noticed that when Richard was signing autographs on the red carpet at the BAFTA's (didn't he look grand?) a fan was holding out a  copy of Chris Ryan's Strike Back and the jacket cover had a photgraph of Richard on it.

Is the book a re-print of the original Chris Ryan story with a new jacket cover or is it the telling of the adapted story of Strike Back as it was filmed by Sky?

Reply from Ali: I know the lady who held out that copy, plus I browsed through a copy of it in Waterstones last week. It's a reprint of the original novel Susie, not the adapted screenplay.

Yuliya: Thanks for your existence

From Russia with love!!!

In rainy day there is no better way to raise the spirit as to watch a good movie. I have seen a movie “North & south” only last week. And I was impressed so much, that the same day I found this book on original language in Inet and had read it in several nights. I am falling in love with it. And it’s become one of my favourites. You must understand how hard to live in Russian provincial town and never dream about England with all it history & culture. I like all in a movie: the story, heroes and atmosphere of England as a whole. I suppose that my first impression can be less without Richard’s magnificent playing. No one girl  can stand and not fall in love with him. I have never idolize somebody, but I am ready to drown in deep, smart and sparkling blue eyes of Richard Armitage. I am really regret that Richard in basically plays on UK TV-series, that is why in Russia we don’t have many chances to follow his stage career and his talent development. From all my heart I wish to Richard more interesting & different roles not only UK television.

You should excuse my mistakes. Yours sincerely, Yuliya.

Susie: BAFTA's

Watched Richard at the BAFTA's last night. He looked great. Just for the record I saw a glimpse of him sitting in the audience and he was sitting next to the actress from Spooks Miranda Raison, who was also there presenting an award at the show but unfortunately it wasn't shown.

Loved the dickie bow Richard, trickie dickie or what!!!

Judith: Spooks 9

Regarding the somewhat unnerving references to the forthcoming revelations about Lucas not being quite who he appears to be. In the interviews which Richard gave when he was first going to be in Spooks, he compared the differences between Guy of Gisborne & Lucas, and how ( unlike Guy), Lucas appeared outwardly affable but that his inner feelings were very different. In fact he referred to peeling off layers as the character progressed. However, it seems that even he has been taken by surprise by what the writers have in store for Lucas.

Like others who have expressed similar views, I sincerely hope that Spooks 9 will not be the last of the series. I do not agree that the format has become jaded. After all, in most long-running series, there are bound to be some episodes that are not quite as good. Also, I do not think that some of the references in recent 'Strikeback' interviews have helped. At least two of them seem to suggest that Richard may be leaving ( e.g. Indielondon referring to him as a former 'Spooks' star and the Radio Times describing him as "brawnier than in his 'Spooks' days)

On the other hand - in the Digital Spy interview, Richard is quoted as saying that Spooks is coming into its' 9th series, and will probably run to a 10th or 11th. Personally, I hope that he is right, and that he will at least be in one more series after the one being filmed now. Lucas is getting really interesting, and after Ros' demise in series eight, it would seem a bit ridiculous to dispose of him so soon!

Perhaps, as far as Richard is concerned - given that he will be doing a stage play which by all accounts will probably be on next year (not to mention whatever he may be doing after July when filming Spooks finishes) - he may be leaving. It is not certain when the play will run. If it is in the Autumn - then it should not interfere with filming if a 10th series of Spooks gets the go-ahead and Richard is in it (please let that be the case). However, if it is likely to be showing early 2011 - it could cause problems - given the length of time it takes to film a series and the demands of a theatre run. He can't do both - he'd be exhausted!

Olietta: Lucas

I still hope that Lucas is not a traitor. Would Spooks authors/producers allowed Richard to reveal that much and spoil the show? I don’t think so. I think that the things Richard says about Lucas are meant to intrigue us and keep us guessing.

Rainbow Ott: Mirror interview Sunday

I am surprised there has not been any comment on this!  First of all Richard is not yet 39 - his birthday is in August!! (as we all know)  Then, it seems quite possible we will be losing him to LA!  I sincerely hope it will only be a temporary move for him to experience what the USA has to offer.  I also thought he appreciated, even if he cannot see why we do it, his female following but in this interview he puts us down rather.  Still, we cannot win them all.

Let us hope he does a stage show in the UK first before he disappears stateside.

Also, it would be good to see him at the BAFTA's next week - fingers crossed!

Thanks for a super site Ali.

Susie: BAFTA's

Ali,

I've just looked through the new Radio Times (5-11th June)which covers the BAFTA's on page 62 under "Pick of Today's TV". Spooks is apparently nominated so perhaps some of the actors from the show will turn up on the night, although I don't hold out much hope of them scooping any awards, for some reason they always seem to get overlooked, goodness knows why!

The BBC did say that series 9 of Spooks would be the last one and I think that ratings have been slowly dropping over the last couple of series. They have done the same with "Ashes to Ashes" (another great show) which has now been axed. From what Richard has hinted at it doesn't sound too promising for Lucas North either. Will he end up face down in a deep fat fryer I ask myself?

Reply from Ali: Hiya Susie, sorry I still don't recall the BBC saying that Spooks 9 would be the last. You could be right but we haven't heard that officially, unless you can correct me on that for certain. You could be right that this is Lucas's last series but there is no official word as yet. Spooks won a BAFTA for its first series I believe and has been nominated many times.

Also I have to say I don't think Ashes to Ashes was axed. The writers decided they would conclude the story at the end of the 3rd series, and having read interviews with them they seem very satisfied with the way it ended.

tyme4t: Do not panic...

Surprised - trying not to press panic button....I hope it's not the last year for [spooks]

Usually if it's renewed for another series the word comes out near the end of the new one or soon after. So I am just eagerly awaiting Series 9...and hoping/praying for more series IF the writers/producers continue with the high standard they've set over the years. Cool

Susie: BAFTA's next Sunday night

I notice that we are now seeing trailers for the BAFTA's. Does anyone know whether Richard or Spooks will receive any awards or if there is any chance that Richard may be there handing out any awards, as he has done in the past?

I hope Spooks does receive some recognition this year, especially as series 9 will be their last. Hermione should certainly be up for best actress, she was great as Ros!

Reply from Ali: Sorry, no there doesn't seem to be any news yet about who is attending this year's BAFTA ceremony. By the way, as far as I'm aware we do not yet know that Spooks series 9 will be the last. No news on this either. Have you heard something about this Susie?

Judith: Malice Aforethought

It is always useful to find out when Richard is on UK TV - and I have pretty much everything he has done on DVD. However, I wish that they would repeat 'Malice Aforethought' on one of the channels. I missed it when it was first shown, and would love to be able to record it- seeing as it has only been produced on a Region 1 DVD. Perhaps 0ne day.......?

Susie: Spooks 9

I wouldn't jump the gun just yet and assume that Richard turns out to be a Russian mole (although it looks likely). As Spooks 9 is reported to be the last in the series ever then I suppose giving Richard a meaty role would make a spectacular exit to the show and seems sensible to me. It may yet leave everyone hanging and wonder "is he or isn't he?". I suspect lots of plots and twists in the very last storyline. It has been a little jaded of late so I do agree that the show must come to an end. I wonder if the recent "hung parliament" in the UK will feature in any storylines in series 9? Personally during all those negoitiations with the Lib-Dems/Conservatives or Lib-Dems/Labour would make a fantastic central plot. I mean if we were about to be attacked just who would make the decision to retaliate and press the red button? Gordon Brown would be stood there dithering for all his worth and likely throwing one of his well known wobblers to anyone within spitting distance. What a mess that would be!

Susie: Review by Seenit website of Strike Back

This is the best review I've read so far and gives Richard the praise he richly deserves. It's all very well however slating ITV off for their poor quality programmes as I would expect Sky to wins hands down giving all the money that's obviously getting thrown at Sky new dramas lately (not forgetting all the poaching of the BBC's best actors - including Richard).

I am rather puzzled however, as the journalist themselves see to be, why Sky decided to put two episodes back-to-back? I mean surely you want to get viewers to watch the show over a longer period of time surely? Therefore getting the most out of any investment?

I totally agree with their comments about the new Robin Hood with Russell Crowe, having just seen a snippet of him trying to speak with goodness knows what kind of dialect. It sounded slightly northern in parts and at other times quite alien to any British accent I've ever heard of before (and I come from the North). Any suggestions or comments?

I think Richard will be definitely be back for a second series of Strike Back! Pity they couldn't have made it into a TV film as a pilot for the series.

Saturday, 15 May 2010

julesgem: re lucas north

I think it would be to obvious to make him a bad guy/mole thats been done with connie , however Im intrigued as to how the story will unfold I agree though if he is leaving the show and i so hope he isnt and would like to see a happy exit.

Saturday, 15 May 2010

Audrey: Say it isn't so

I too am very disturbed by what Richard had to say regarding his "Lucas North" character during the GMTV interview the other day.  In series 7 and 8, Lucas has been shown to be both loyal and trustworthy even though there were some questions at the beginning of series 7 and Richard played the part brilliantly - as he always does of course.  So the mere thought that the "twist" he mentioned and the remark that Lucas is "not who he thought he was" is bad enough but to think that they might make him some kind of traitor just doesn't bear thinking about.  To "kill" him off would be almost too hard to take and would break our hearts.  I, and no doubt others, would understand it if he wanted to leave the show, but as far as I know he hasn't even hinted at that.  Even his "What??" comment and the look on his face on the interview would suggest he too was shocked at what they had in store for Lucas.  I can only hope that my thinking is way off base and that he is NOT now a "baddie".  This is, after all, only the third series he has starred in and I'm sure he is another reason so many of us love the show.  However if he is leaving I can only wish the very best for him in whatever he does in the future.  Hopefully he will not just be on the stage even though it is, I believe, his first love.  How would we, who don't live in the UK ever get to see him?  We are still hoping to see him on the big screen in movies!

Anyway, many many thanks to you, the wonderful people who make this site so great.  You keep us up to date with all things RA and post all the fantastic screencaps, news, interviews etc.  I spend way too much time every day reading all of it just gazing at him, and drooling if truth be told.  He is so worth looking at and NOT just for his looks.  His acting abilities, sometimes just with those amazing eyes, just blow me away, and he seems such a naturally great person.

Guest: Lucas as a traitor

I just watched the wonderful GMTV Interview and am quite shocked.

I really expected Richard to leave Spooks anyway. But the way he speaks about the great twists and Lucas not being who we thought he was makes one think of him as a mole.

I really don't want him to be a bad guy in the end. Let him go because he wants to raise a family and live a normal life.

But please, KUDOS. Don't spoil my hero!!

Susie: Strike Back

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone at RichardArmitageNet for keeping us so well informed about Strike Back.

I think the role of John Porter is a great opportunity on the career ladder for Richard but I must admit the character of Collinson also intrigues me and I think it would have been right up Richard's street.  I wonder what he would have made of that particular personality if he'd been offered that role instead? No doubt Richard would have upstaged the character of John Porter with his duplicitous portrayal of Collinson. I'm sure he much prefers the starring role though, so good on him for getting it!

Rainbow Ott: Richard's self description!

Hi  Have been trying to get this through for a few days - technical problems and lack of time!!!

It is great how much of RA we have been getting with lots of pics and interviews - many thanks to the site for keeping us well supplied for the daily dose of RA!

Not sure who writes his scripts or why he still cannot understand why we love him so much!!  In his TV interview he describes himself as 'gangly' - this implies skinny and awkward which Richard certainly is not.  Also, in a newspaper article he says he is a 'geek'!  Never!  Richard has always been a private person so why should he not prefer to stay at home rather than out partying all the time.  He can do some DIY for me any day!!!

I also believe 'Hollywood' has been mentioned - I really hope he will not be deserting his English roots!  Let us hope there are lots of offers of work to keep him with us.

Counting down the days until my Strike Back DVD arrives!

Wonderful site and helpful admin team!  Thank you.

30rock: Gorgeous Pictures

Hi, I just wanted to say a very special thanks to you for all those completely fabulous pics in your gallery.  I have just spent some considerable time drooling over them, and they are absolutely gorgeous, the HD pics for Strike Back in particular are very very nice.

I also have to say that they are fantastically well organised. You do all Richard Armitage fans a great service.

Judith: Strikeback

Well - what a rollercoaster!. I have been looking forward to seeing this for so long, and I was not disappointed. I thought that it was completely gripping, gaining momentum in the first episode, culminating in a truly nailbiting second episode. All the acting was first class. Richard was totally convincing as John Porter and once again managed to convey the contrasts in the character to perfection. I was so engrossed, I couldn't believe how fast two hours went by.

The programme is excellent and does exactly what it ways on the tin. It doesn't glamourise the situation, which is how it should be. It would be interesting to know how serving soldiers might rate it.

Eagerly awaiting episodes three and four!

Rita, Rome: His leathers

Hi there!

Did you notice that the leather jacket Richard was wearing in the photos on the "Wenn photo library" is the same he's wearing in the pic of today as John Porter? ... I'm sure you did!

Maybe, it's a souvenir from the set.

I've always loved leather jackets (I wear them regularly) and they seem to suit Master Richard particularly well.

Have  a nice week!

Reply from Ali: yes I did happen to notice, we're not the only ones to notice either! Thank you, you too.

Good point, Ali! I know I am bias. Aren’t we all when it comes to Richard’s work? My question wasn’t about what you are doing on your site (here you have only my respect and admiration) but about critics’ work in general.

Reply from Ali: fair enough, thank you Olietta

Guest: Olietta: Reviews

I’ve got a question: do we really need to read those negative reviews? I personally don’t think so and I don’t read them. It’s just other person’s opinion. Nothing more. It’s all about likes and dislikes. I trust myself and I know exactly what I like. My only concern is Richard’s reaction to those reviews.

Anyway thank you for what you are doing here. Great job!!!

Reply from Ali: I understand your point, however it would appear extremely biased if I were to only provide links to reviews that were positive and people can choose whether to read them or not. I think most of us would agree with you that we all know exactly what we like to watch regardless of what any reviewer has to say. I would also add that I don't think all the reviews have been completely negative, many have positive things to say about Richard and/or the production. Does he read them - who knows? Putting them on here isn't going to make any difference to that I think.

You make an interesting point though and I'm glad you're enjoying the site, thanks for your comment!

lynne gunkel: He's done it again!

This is a great escape - it is the shortest 1-1/2 hours you'll spend  and at the end you'll be looking for more - I loved it!

Mr. Armitage has done it again - His John Porter is like John Thornton on steroids! Got to love John Porter!

If you love action, adventure and suspense, you'll love Strike Back,  Can't wait for the next episode of John Porter's road to redemption.

Guest: Strike Back 1 and 2

Watched Episodes 1 and 2 of Strike Back. Visually I thought it was great, but the writing could have been a little better. RA looked really buff, and as usual I was amazed at his expressive face - but felt sorry for some of the scenes he had to act his way through due to the dialogue. Looking forward to the future episodes to see if he manages to get the 'real' bad guy of the series. LOL

Jen: Strike Back

I was totally taken by surprise by how much I actually enjoyed watching Strike Back, as it's not the type of programme I'd bother with usually, but I’m glad I did.

I thought it was exciting and interesting with good characters.  The two hours just flew by.  The story just completely pulled me in.

Richard Armitage was, to put it simply, outstanding.  Whilst I was watching the programme, I completely forgot that it was RA playing a role; he was John Porter, if that makes sense.  I haven’t seen him in this type of role before, but he did an excellent job.  Yet again, he put the little details into his characterisation of John Porter that made him so believable.  To watch him on screen was like being on a roller coaster of emotion, heart-breaking, when he was phoning his daughter, nerve-wracking as he went AWOL, heroic when he went out on his own to rescue Katie, noble when he saved As’ad.

I also liked Orla Brady’s character, Katie Dartmouth.  She seemed to have a quiet dignity about her, despite the horrific situation she found herself in, or of course it could be that she was completely shocked by it.

Jodie May’s character, Layla kind of grew on me.  I disliked her at first, but once she was deployed – I think that’s the word, I started to like her. She seems to be efficient and good at her job.  I think Layla and John will become really good friends.

Now I better shut up in case I spoil it any further.  J

I will definitely be watching the rest of the series.

Well done to Richard and to everyone else involved with the programme.

Strike Back was, for me anyway, a surprisingly good programme, full of drama, action and suspense.

Wow!!  It was introduced as 'edge of the seat drama' and it certainly was.  So glad I made the effort to go to London tonight to see RA in action as John Porter.  Do not have Sky so have got to wait until the DVD is released and I needed a dose of RA on screen!!

A great evening and hearing the production team speak at the beginning, then in the Q+A session was a bonus.  Would have been even better if Richard had been there too, but cannot have it all!  Richard's performance was discussed - sorry, highly praised - as just the right actor for the role.  He can be tough but have gentle moments too (with daughter and hostage Katie).  Could go on for ages as to how wonderful he was, but you all know that!

Got talking to fellow RA supporters while waiting to go in and I hope they enjoyed it too.

The person leading the Q+A was from The Independent so may be an article in there tomorrow - will look out for it.

Keep up the great work on the site!

Can go to sleep happy tonight!!!

brochlass: Love the Strike Back Page

Thank you to the wonderful people who keep this site so current.  We in Canada have to wait so long to see most of the things the wonderful Richard is in so we rely a lot on this site especially.  We have to wait even longer to purchase DVD's for example.  Such an amazingly actor and so very gorgeous.

Guest: Strike Back Clip

God! This looks violent.

I will of course watch it, though. It seems Richard is just brilliant in it as always. I love him to play with Toby Stephens. Makes my life perfect!!

Thumper: The return of the native

Hope BBC will make such drama: Richard as Wildeve, Steven Mackintosh as Yeobright, but has to be very careful to choose a good Eustacia Vye, surely not such bacon as Catherine Zeta-Jones, let the fans of Hardy finally to see a good The return of the native.Smile

Jacky: Zurich 06.04.

Which I can say… I " North & South" seen. Richard is a very charismatic actor. In the role of John Thornton it showed much projecting ability! And me much affects. Greeting Jacky

Yummy! Can't get enough of the inscrutable and delectable Lucas. Designed to brighten my day!

Rita, Rome: Clarissa

What can I say about Clarissa?

It simply is "the Master's voice"....well done Richard! Well done!

Thursday, 01 April 2010

Guest: Judith: Clarissa

I am really enjoying listening to this. The way Richard uses his voice is completely riveting. Talk about radiating menace - but at the same time being persuasive, even beguiling. You can understand how Clarissa is attracted & repelled by him. His performance is a triumph. BTW - am I going mad, or is he doing the introduction and closing credits as well?

Reply from Ali: yes Richard is reading the credits at the beginning and end as well. Laughing

Guest: Judith: RE: Running Richard

Exactly what I thought when I read the article. I do hope that this 'dark secret leading to the ultimate betrayal' is not their way of making this the last ever series (the BBC I mean!)

Thursday, 01 April 2010

MillyMe: Running Richard

Lucas is looking very lean and fit! Can't wait for Spooks 9, but the business of "a dark secret leading to ultimate betrayal" in the Sun article sounds very ominous. Might this be the end of Lucas and Spooks? Nooooo, pretty please!

MissJJ: Clarissa

I think Robert Lovelace has elevated Guy of Gisborne to Saint Guy!

MillyMe: Feeding a Richard Addiction

I would like to thank the administrators for an excellent site on all things Richard. Fantastic for a newbie for feeding the fires of addiction. I especially love the pic for the day. A wonderful excuse to pop in daily!

I'm an American fan! Mr. Armitage is an awesome actor. I haven't seen his equal in the US. Keep up the good work!

Guest: Singing Richard

God! Did you hear him sing? I couldn't help holding my breath for as long as he sang. Which is why I almost fainted!!

And by the way, I thought I aready knew every facets of his unique voice. I was wrong!

And again he plays the character of Robert Lovelace different from any other before!

He's incredible!!!!

As I don't know how to record Clarissa, I just hope and pray it will be released on CD.Please!!!

Sunday, 21 March 2010

Guest: Clarissa and Hermione Norris

Just curious if RA and Hermione Norris talked about the Clarissa radio voice work during Spooks filming -- since Hermione played the Anne Howe character in the Sean Bean movie of Clarissa in the 90's.

Sunday, 14 March 2010

Guest: Clarissa

Just listened to Clarissa. I was chasing my kids around the whole town just to get back home in time. It's easy to listen to it via the internet as I'm not in the UK. Does anybody know how to record it from the site?

I would love to do that when it's repeated on Saturday. All those actors and actresses are really great. But this deep, lovely voice..

I thought i was over him! I'm not!!!

richardsgirl: DESPERATE TO SEE RICHARDS BLUE EYES!!

Cant wait for Strikeback to be screened.Richard all gung ho and looking just tousled, tanned and incredibly sexy..as usual.Really missed seeing him on the box..played all his DVDs into the ground, just to hear that gorgeous voice and a flash of those gorgeous eyes.. What a man  sigh...

Susie: More voiceovers

I've just read on this website that Richard has done even more voiceover work! Gosh he's going to lose his voice at this rate, how does he do it?

Another audio book and voiceover for the Channel 4 show about Harrow. Looks like Richard spends most of his time in a sound-proof booth talking to himself! Can't say I'm sorry though.

Well done Richard keep up the good work. Sorry about Charlie but something else bigger and better will turn up I can guarantee it!

Kym: Wedlock

I am currently reading a biography "Wedlock" by Wendy Moore.

"Precocious and indulged, Mary Eleanor Bowes was the richest heiress in eighteenth-century Britain.  Scandalous rumours were quick to spread when she fell under the spell of a handsome Irish solidier; Andrew Robinson Stoney.  When Mary heard that her gallant hero was mortally wounded in a duel fought to defend her honour, she felt she could hardly refuse his dying wish to marry her.  Yet within hours of the ceremony, Stoney seemed to be in the grip of a miraculous recovery....and Mary found herself trapped in an appallingly brutal marriage.  She was terrorised by violence, humiliation, deception and kidnap, but the life of Mary Eleanor Bowes is a remarkable tale of triumph in the face of overwhelming betrayal".

Would be fantastic made into a film.

RA would be sublime as Stoney.

Just a suggestion. :)

Rainbow Ott: Richard on stage

Hi Judith

Thanks for this snippet of info.  As much as I would like to look at all info on RA, simply do not have the time to read it all.  Let us hope this does come to fruition - we will all be queuing up to see him no doubt!

Great news about early release of Venetia too - another dose of that gorgeous voice - wonderful!!!

Guest: Judith: Richard on Stage

For Rainbow Ott - Just to say that Richard mentioned in his interview on Vulpes Libris, that amongst projects lined up, one is a stage play, based on a novel which became a 60's classic. Intriguing or what?

Rainbow Ott: Richard in Cats

Interesting to read message about Richard in Cats.  I have DVD and had seen he was supposed to be in it but did not know in what role.  I did see the show several times but before I became an RA addict  - just think I may have seen him on stage but not known!!  Would absolutely love him to do a stage role again!

Have watched the Natural World programme tonight - an hour listening to that gorgeous voice!  Heaven!!  Would have been nicer if could see him too, but we cannot have it all at the moment!

Thanks to the site admin who keep us in touch with all things Richard - not sure where you find the time or the info but it gives us something to look forward to each day.

LucasNxx: Hello fellow RA fans

Fantastic site to keep up tp date on what is going on with Richard!!  well done all involved.

R.A. Fan: Richard Armitage in Cats

Purchased 1998 DVD of Cats. Advert listed Richard Armitage as cast member. Thought I recognized him; turned out to be Michael Gruber. Richard was listed as swing/understudy in the end Credits. Was told later that he was in stage production that year, although not in this video too my knowledge. Good production though!

Friday, 26 February 2010

miracel09: Venetia

I know Richard has recorded audiobook Venetia but I could quite picture him as Lord Damerel. I have read this book a few times and he is just the right age.  I don't know enough young English actresses to portray Venetia. I have often wondered why Georgette Heyer books have not been adapted because they are filled with great characters and dialogue.

Friday, 19 February 2010

MissJJ: Musical??

Funny the things that pop into your head, there was talk recently of RA doing a play, on the radio yesterday Sarah Kennedy played another Richard with a very distinctive voice Richard Burton singing How To Handle A Woman from Camelot.......now there's an idea I thought to myselfSmile

Guest: types of character

Concerning the poll: my proposal is for Richard to play a father, wouldn't that be cute?

Tuesday, 09 February 2010

MissJJ: Character Poll

I had a top three, Vampire ~ was thinking Lestat a TV adaptation of Interview with the Vampire, will all the vampire shows currently doing the rounds you would think someone would pick up on that!  Second was a detective and thirds strangely enough was a criminal, being persued by one of our fav TV detectives, I think he would make a wicked serial killer, one of those very gentlemanly tyes who actaully turns out to be Jack the Ripper!

But then again I agree with Mandy S anything to get him back on TV ASAP!!!!!

flandersdreamer: Richard as a detective

I would like to see Richard as Duncan Kincaid, a brilliant and handsome superintendent with Scotland Yard, from the mystery novels by Deborah Crombie. His sergeant and lover, Gemma Jones, could be played by Daniela Denby-Ashe. These books are really great!

Please, BBC, do me a favour?

Tuesday, 02 February 2010

MandyS: Character poll

I've voted in the poll for which character richard should play next, but my real answer is 'any character so we can get him back on screen ASAP!'

Guest:Judith: Daily Mail & Digital Spy Articles

Having read the article in the Daily Mail, I was feeling singularly depressed to think that the BBC could even be thinking of axeing Spooks. However, having seen the report on Digital Spy, I sincerely hope that the BBC denial is true! They were very quick to respond, (perhaps due to the 202 (mainly angry) responses to the original article). In any case, I feel that Richard needs more opportunity to explore the character of Lucas. After series 8, he's getting even more interesting.

Guest: Audio work

I've just finished Venetia and loved it. I sometimes could imagine the way Richard speaks a character. Really looking forward to it!!

Last weekend I read Strike back just because some of you recommended it. Really not a girl's book but very good though.  I just wanted to take a swift look at it and was hooked. And yes, I want RA to look terrible and drunk and dirty in the beginning. Please!!!Kiss

And i wonder noone has said something about the way he "plays" Robin and Guy getting drunk in THE SIEGE. I can't stop laughing everytime I listen to that! It's so funny!Laughing

Myrtle: Strike Back

I have just finished reading 'Strike Back', it is not a book  that Iwould have normally read, but with you know who in mind as JP I quite enjoyed it Wink I would agree about the similarities between John and Guy S3. RA will have to be quite bedragled at times, and we already know he can interpret a 'tortured soul' so well.

I am looking forward to the TV adaptation, it should be good.

Then maybe more Spooks, then Charlie, great!!! Maybe Bond!!! who knows?

MissJJ: Strike Back

Just read the cast list for Strike Back funny how you picture characters in your head.  Yes even before knowing he was to play John Porter could easily have picked RA for the role, Shelley Conn as Danni, described in the book as having a shapley figure with blonde hair that tumbles below her shoulders ~ err No! Reckon the casting director must have just watched Mistresses on the BBC as he/she seems to have pinched half the cast!Wink Have to say I am really ooking forward to seeing it as a series.

Saturday, 19 December 2009

MissJJ: Strike Back

Just read the book, not a "girlie" read and have to say Chris Ryan is not on my preferred reading list, but have to say this is a very good bood and I think RA will make a great John Porter! I have him as a gross between Gisborne start of season 3 and Lucas North.  Any one else read it?

bunkie77: Merry Christmas Ali & Hedgey & All!

I just wanted to tell you ladies how very much I enjoy this site. I start my day with an "RA Fix" with the POD, and am continually amazed by the swift posting of new info about our favorite actor. Thanks for your dedication and effort, it is greatly appreciated, especially by those of us in the barren RA Wasteland that is the USA...

Here's wishing you and everyone in RANet Land a merry Christmas, a festive holiday season, and a prosperous, fun-filled 2010. And please don't forget to spread the love this season...despite financial, economic or health hardships, we all have so much to be thankful for, and it's good to share with others who are in need.

Cheers! Bunkie77

Why don't you set up a holiday wish page for Richard?

He might find time to read it and know we're thinking of him!

Kym: I'm in ecstacy!

Could not wait to get home from work yesterday to finish watching the rest of the North and South DVD.  Enjoyed the special feature: RA interview.  Whatta guy! In it he mentions one of his favourite scenes is when Margaret leaves for London in the carriage with the snow falling and RA is standing in the doorway watching her go.  The scene was framed so beautifully, you could take a photo and stick it up on the wall and be considered a piece of art!  Love a happy ending....didn't want it to end....I love watching period piece dramas, you really feel like you're actually there in amongst it all.  Brilliant acting by everyone, esp. the delightful RA.  The kissing scene in the train carriage was particularly nice.  Lucky lucky lucky girl!  I'm saving the Robin Hood dvds until Christmas altough I don't think I can wait that long.  Must have my RA dose daily!  Damn, postal strike here, RA probably won't get his Christmas card until the new year.....*grr*

Thursday, 17 December 2009

Kym: I thinking I'm a

Have just posted RA's christmas card.  Even perfumed it. Pathetic isn't it?!!!  I know I should grow up, but every time I think of him I get little butterlies in my stomach. Received North & South DVD yesterday and immediately played it. Am up to the part where Margaret rejects Mr Thornton's proposal (stupid stupid stupid girl)!  He's so adorable and his voice is just sublime.  I could sit and listen to him all day long.....ahh there goes the butterflies again!  Every man I meet I instantly compare him (usually unfavourably) to RA.  I think I'm obsessing a bit, but loving it at the same time!  Think I need therapy....preferably by someone who looks like RA......arrrrghhhh help me!!!!

I am shaken and stirred by the very thought! Smile

Guest: New Discovery

I had no idea who Richard Armitqge was until I started watching Robin Hood on BBC America.  I LOVE British shows and started watching Robin Hood at the start of Season 3 when it started broadcasting in the US.  Once I laid eyes on Sir Guy I was hooked.  He was the bad guy, and I kept watching to see him every week.  I loved and hated him at the same time.  Found a few more movies feating RA, like North and South, and now I'm a big fan.  Wish I could watch Spooks.  Looks like a good show.  Would just like to say RA is such a good actor - in addition to being very handsome.  Hope to see more of him on American TV in the future.

Tuesday, 15 December 2009

Kym: RA fest!

Have just purchased North and South DVD and the box set of Robin Hood.  Will have a RA overload over Christmas! Oh the Joy!

Tuesday, 15 December 2009

MissJJ: Back to Bond (sorry)

Glad to see that it is not just us who maybe are a tad biasedWink who are mentioning RA's name as a possible successor to DC, some of the popular Bond sites have mentioned him in dispatches!  Given that DC maybe does another 2 he will be the perfect age!

Saturday, 12 December 2009

flandersdreamer: Article on Mail Online Dec 11th.

Why do they always have to emphasize on Richard's embarrassement on being loved by his female audience?

Okay already! We know that! Give the man a break, you sharks of the press! Richard is a modest man. His fans know and respect that. We aren't the one harassing him.

Keep up the good work, Richard, and don't let those leatherheads upset you!

Friday, 11 December 2009

MissJJ: Bond

Spent an evening with a fellow Bond fan even bigger than me (a chapWink) was just chatting in general and he reckoned that there was only one man for the job once we get DC to hang up his oo's RA, that was with no prompting and completely unbiased. I have to say I am curious I wonder if Barbara B and Michael G Wilson asked RA would he do it!!!!

Thursday, 10 December 2009

Myrtle: Super site!

I have meant to say this before but I have been distracted by the thought of RA as Bond or Heathcliff! This is a super site, I love pic of the day. I browse often. Thankyou Myrtle

Myrtle: Heathcliff/Bond

Girls - I am demented with the thought of RA as Heathcliff or Bond.

Kym - orgasmic is the wordTongue out OK you can be Cathy

When I saw RA at the BAFTAs this year he was Bond!!! Miss JJ, I will put Casio Royale on my reading list

Can i be Miss Moneypenny? (perhaps a little too old to be a Bond Girl Cry

Wednesday, 09 December 2009

MissJJ: Bond

Having spent most of the morning thinking about it, not because it was a tough decision but just because I enjoyed thinking about itTongue out, it would have to be Commander Bond RN, certainly cannot see DC in naval uniform but RA...... sorry need to go away and think about it some more.........

Joking aside if you have never read one of the James Bond books, pick up Casino Royale.....RA perfecting casting!

Wednesday, 09 December 2009

Kym: Wuthering Heights

Of course I would be perfectly cast as Cathy .......*sigh*Wink

Wednesday, 09 December 2009

Myrtle: Heathcliff

Heathcliff would be lovely, now I am torn, Heathcliff or Bond, Bond or Heathcliff - I need a lie down Undecided to think about it Wink

I'd love to see RA as Heathcliff (of course) in Wuthering Heights with Kate Bush (of course) singing title track.  I'm orgasmic just thinking about it!!!Tongue out

Tuesday, 08 December 2009

Myrtle: Myra

I would love to see RA as James Bond, he would be a natural, much better than Daniel Craig IMO. I wonder however, if he would want the role if it were offered? chance of a life time or too restricting for him to explore other things?

How lovely it would be to hear him say "my name is Bond, James Bond" Heaven!

Monday, 07 December 2009

MissJJ: Film Review ~Episode 7

I see RA is now doing his Pierce bit from The World Is Not Enough ~ do you think he could be practicing Wink.........

Saturday, 05 December 2009

MissJJ: The name is Bond!

Said it when DC was hopelessly cast as Bond, RA was my choice, Bond needs a proper actor, not John McClane in a suitSealed!  RA would be perfect, the way the character was written.  Lets hope DC only does the three he has vowed to do. Watching RA do the torture scenes in Spooks he could have shown DC how to do it in Casino Royale!

Thanks so much for the Episode 4 zipped files (Downloads section).  It's no wonder it "slipped your mind" when you have the real DVD footage over there in the UK!  Thank you again.

BoHenley: Screencap downloads (zipped)

Thanks for the great screencap & movie downloads.  Living in Australia, it'll be ages before we see this series, so this is a fantastic "fill in" until then.  Love the Pic of the Day...like MissJJ it gets me through the day (or night, as it is here when it uploads), and looking forward to the Episode 4 zipped download combo.  So wonderful to download them all at once.

Many thanks to our dedicated RANet team

He is a great actor that was never in doubt but that he takes the whole art to another level just shows with work like that THANK YOU for all you give us of you

JB: Amazing

I can't stop watching North and South; the John Thornton character (Richard Armitage's performance) completely blew me away the first time I saw the movie and now I consider it one of my favorate movies (I've watched it at least 20 times).

Sunday, 15 November 2009

Sasha Y: Thanks so much

Fell in love with John Thornton character in North & South. Discovered the miniseries by chance in Youtube. It was a brilliant drama with superb actings from all the actors/actresses. I just got the book today & I'm reading it now. RA portrayal as JT was awesome and he melts my heart with his fine acting...*swoon*.He looks amazingly handsome in period drama, gosh those cravat he wore in N & S! Thanks so much for the site.

Fabulous screen caps!! I haven't seen Spooks 8 yet, still trying to catch up to series 7 online. Almost every single shot is squee-worthy! Thank you so much!

BTW -- I like RA in any costume (or not), and I like his hair almost any way he wears it, but a bit longer is very nice, and why does he look so great with stubble? It's a mystery!

It is a great omission on my part that I have not thanked you before for the all the wonderful screencaps and other downloadable yummies that you provide on this site.

So hear goes: a big THANK YOU to you, Hedgey and Ali ! Not just for the caps and things, but for maintaining such a fabulous site, filled with lots and lots of wonderful RA stuff.

Kudos to you both,

Hi there,

just wanted to say that I keep listening to Sylvester and also to The Witchfinders everyday. The way Richard reads, or actually he plays every role- he does it brillantly.

As if he'd written a biography for every single character !! It's incredible. I won't drop a word about his voice, cause I've not yet found a single one to describe what it does to me!!!!

By the way I would like to request pic 181 of Moving On.

Thank you so much

Yes you should be able to buy the DVDs in the shops in October. Spooks s7 DVD comes out on 12 Oct.

I'll put up your pic choice tomorrow, thanks for that. Have you read the latest interview with Richard (see news 25 Sept)?  From what you've said, you might want to hide from some scenes in series 8!

Armitagegirl: Coming to England

I am so happy I will manage to come to England in October. Do you think it possible that I can get the Spooks 7 DVDs and the Robin Hood 3 DVD in a usual shop like HMV? It would be much cheaper than ordering them from where I live.

By the way I would like pic 3_03 from Spooks! I just love Lucas. He's my favourite and I don't want to see any torturing scenes with him anymore!!!

Thank you for making me happy everyday with your website

Your pic is there today Lea  Cool

Personally I would recommend listening to LOTN as it's a wonderful story with many rich characters. I wouldn't say it's 'too cruel' but then sensitivity is a subjective issue so it's very difficult to advise you on that. I know many many people who would strongly recommend this audiobook though. It's definitely worth buying in my opinion.

Guest: Pic of the day and Lords of the north

At first I would like to choose 5 86 from the lovely Lucas North pics.

Second I thank you so much for making me happy twice a day and keeping me up on information for more than 4 month now.

As a big fan of everything Richard has read on audiobooks I would love to order The Lords of the North, as his voice seems to be sooo sexy and rough there. But I don't know whether it is too cruel to listen to as I am a very sensitive soul. Have you listened to it and can advice me?

flandersdreamer: Charlie

To all,

Lara Fabian, who is cast in Mike Ogden's new film Charlie starring Richard Armitage, is a very talented Belgian singer. She has a father from Flanders and a mother from Italy. She was raised in Brussels, which probably makes her the very example of a Belgian citizen: flemish and french speaking, English (of course!) and Italian. I'm very curious as how she will be as an actress. If she equals her acting talent with that of her singing, then we're in for a great performance!

thatproducer: Charlie - RA's feature - web site news.

***UPDATE***

Hello everyone.

The films web site should be live tomorrow, depending on when the hosts press the button.

www.charliefilm.co.uk

The forum is already up here - http://charliefilm.proboards.com/ ...and links from the film website. The films forum is just about the film and is in no way meant to rival or replace the independent RA boards like this one or elsewhere, but I hope you'll all sign up and show the world why this film should be made. Seriously, your support is so important to this project because it shows potential investors and distributors how popular our favourite actor is.

Thanks.

Mike

Susie: "Charlie" updates

Enjoyed the updates by Mike Ogden on the film project. I've been following him on Twitter and obviously he can't give too much away otherwise someone else might pinch the storyline.

Hope the websites will do a proper Q & A session with Richard and Mike nearer the time of completion.

Thanks RA Net you're a star for keeping us up to date!

Hi all, I strongly recommend the Sylvester CD to you all! It's a masterpiece whitnessing again of Richard Armitage's huge talents. He reads with a true and rare passion, so convincingly that the characters seem to come alive! A treasure to anyone who' s holding him in high esteem, as I do.

Armitagegirl: Hood Academy Pics

Thank you sooooo much, alicat!!

You are wonderful!!! These picture take away my last breath. I don't know how to sleep tonight. It's a shame I have to go to work now. I'd rather be looking at them for the rest of the day.

They seem to be taken of a TV report or something. Do you know where I can find that?

Tuesday, 16 June 2009

alicat: reply to Armitagegirl: pic of the day

There are loads of them Armitagegirl. This was taken in 2006 at the Hood Academy, which is where the actors practised horse riding, archery and sword fighting skills prior to filming the first series. I've just realised that we haven't included the Hood Academy pictures in our gallery - shame on us!

I will rectify that tomorrow so look out for the pictures. Wink

It is now the fifth time that I stare at todays picture. I can not do that longer than 12 minutes. Then I feel I can't breathe anymore. Please tell me if there are more of them. I never saw that one before. Do you think he is practising horse riding?

Thank you so much for each of the daily pics!

Guest: Susie: To Heathra

Thanks for the info. I'm glad that in some small way I've inspired you to make more: although this  is purely from a very selfish perspective as I love watching Richard and the compilations that you do and the music they are set to are awe inspiring. I envy anyone that can do clever things like that! Well done everyone that works so hard producing video/artwork/websites and forums and many other things for fellow fans to enjoy. I think even if I weren't a fan of Richard's I would still want to come and enjoy the chat and friendly banter! I hope that even though Richard no longer has time to send us messages he still has the odd glimpse at some of the things we do in his honour!

Thursday, 28 May 2009

Heathra: To Susie ;-)

Replying to Susie: Thank you for saying such wonderful things about both my video "Fix You" and also my latest video "My Skin".  Comments like that definately keep me inspired to make more!  Wink You asked where I got the audio from my video about Guy & Marian called "My Skin"?  I got the audio from the audio book that Richard narriates called "The Witchfinders".  It was an episode of RH that they just made into an audio book but never produced it for TV, unfortunately.  You can buy the audio book on Amazon.com I believe.  There is a link someone on this site to order it!  Just not sure where at the moment! LOL

L_Alex: M. Armitage

A note to say that I did not know Mr. Armitage ago 6 months but I must say that I am catching up my backlog. This is a really talented actor, in addition to having a flawless physique! I could see it in various interviews and he is a modest ! A perfect man !!

Thank you for your site that is a real source of information, documentation, in addition to all this beautiful pictures

Susie: Pic of the Day

Thanks admin for putting the picture of Richard when he was with the RSC as my "pic of the day". Doesn't he look dashing?

Just got home after working outside and having been soaked to the skin not once but twice during the day by heavy rain showers here in the North of England so imagine my delight on finding your email in my inbox about Richard's photo! You've really brightened what otherwise would have been a very wet and dreary day! Many thanks.

Susie: Talented fans!

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributes such lovely photo's for fellow fan's enjoyment. It's much appreciated! I love the BAFTA pictures on this site.

I've just watched the a clip on You Tube for for Lucas North/Spooks/MI5 entitled "Fix You" and it's the most awesome thing I've seen and heard in a long time! If anyone hasn't seen it then I recommend you log on and watch it. I love the song, which is also called "Fix You" and to be honest I thought the singer was Richard Armitage himself for a moment, the voice is quite similar to how I'd imagine it to be.

So well done everyone! I only hope Richard gets to watch some of these things that fans have done with him in mind, he should be well chuffed!

Susie: Radio Times article

Just read those reviews that you have scanned and all I can say about them is "what a wagon load of tripe!" Where an earth do they get these people to review programmes from? Obviously not from viewers who ACTUALLY WATCH THE SHOW!

Moving on to the subject matter in the Radio Times I notice that the gorgeous one (of course I mean Guy!) is going to be in a shirtless scene! So Army Dreamers can I reserve my pic of the day now please for a shirtless Richard from Saturday's nights episode of RH? I hasten to add that I am not a "mum" or some little old biddy which is what David Butcher seems to assume will be the type of women who will be enthralled by the barechested Gizzy! (He's only jealous!)

I love the sound of the role Richard's playing in the Moving On series called "Waving not Drowning".  John Mulligan sounds very intriguing indeed.  A portfolio of houses, flash car and designer clothes! I bet he loved playing that character! It makes a change from unwashed leather!

Jen: Screencap gallery

Just had a look at the screencap gallery menu page - if that's the right word and goodness me!  The layout is extremely nice.  Laughing I got a bit dazzled by all those character pictures for a minute, but in a good way.

It still amazes me how one actor can look so different from one role to the next.

Anyway, what I originally wanted to say, before I started waffling, is great job on the screencap gallery and thanks. Smile

Jen: Lovely

Hello.  Popped over to have a look at your new home.  It's looking lovely.  For some reason my eyes keep being drawn to the banner at the top of the screen.   Laughing

Also just want to say, I really appreciate all the effort and work that must be involved in running a website like this, so thanks for all you do.

The site looks absolutely marvellous - and that banner is BEAUTIFUL!

Congratulations admins - you've done a fantastic job!

Susie: BAFTA's

I notice that the nomination for Spooks is only for the production team (no insult intended they do a great job).  What on earth is happening in these awards? No nominations for Robin Hood or Spooks or any of the great actors in them.  Let's face it people are watching in their millions so why no nominations? Strikes me someone is getting a few backhanders, it's certainly not because the shows aren't popular is it? I think a boycott is called for.

Jen: Interview on Digital Spy

Hello Admin people.  Just wanted to say thanks for the link to the Digital Spy interview with Richard.  I really like hearing what he has to say about his work.  He puts so much thought and detail into playing Sir Guy.  Sounds as though Guy is going to be completely broken and angst ridden.  It'll make for exciting telly.

Daylilyheaven: Thanks again

When I got home, this website was the first one I pulled up.  It was wonderful to have another video to watch and the press releases to read.  I greatly appreciate it.  :-)

LSM71059: Screencaps

The new design is very appealing.  Why can't I get the screencap gallery to work though?  Help, please.

alicat: re: Screencaps

When you get to the page with all the polaroid images on it, click on the name of the show that appears under each polaroid and that will open the gallery. To download a picture, click on it to make it bigger then click the small grey download icon in the bottom right corner. Hope that helps Smile

Guest: Thank you!

Thank you for this beautiful, informative website.  I just finished reading your blog and was concerned to find that you too thought the BBC had given little notice about Robin Hood's start up date.  Is it at least getting a lot of promotion this week?  Or is Primeval getting more press?  We hear nothing in the U.S., so sites like this are the only way to keep in touch.  Thank you for all of your hard work.

Jen: New look

Just popping by to say the new blue, grey and white colour scheme is nice, it's easier to read than the red type was, too.

The new design of the site was very swish and professional looking the other day, but now you've "turned blue", it's more so.  Great work Admin people.

Also, I love the new banner at the top of the page.  It's very striking, or should I say that Guy, JT and Lucas are very striking? Laughing

Grace: First post..

Oooh! a new design..yay! It looks very 'handsome'.

I do miss the new picture of RA (the one UA uploaded) which you'd kept as your background and the (?smaller)print makes me squint a tad more as do the (brighter) red highlighted links but anything with info on RA and a daily pic is much appreciated. GoG to come onscreen again has me re-scheduling my weekends once again..

Keep up the good work! X Grace
