Interview in Daily Mail 10 Oct 09

Allison Pearson has interviewed Richard Armitage on the set of Spooks. She states;

“Some rakish TV turns have earnt Spooks star Richard Armitage an army of female fans. ALLISON PEARSON went to see what all the fuss is about  -  and found him squirming with embarrassment.”

How many women can you take to a Richard Armitage interview? Earlier this year, when I paid homage to the actor in my Daily Mail column, so many readers volunteered to come along and ‘hold the microphone’ that if I ever met Richard I would have had to rent the Royal Albert Hall to squeeze us all in.”

There’s a new picture accompanying the article as well (click to enlarge):

Here’s an article scan of the two page interview in the Weekend magazine that is published with the Daily Mail today, you get a larger picture with the printed version but the text is the same. Click each image to enlarge.

    Really good interview which I enjoyed reading. Maybe Allison, as a writer, is more interested in character development as this is the edge she has developed in this interview.
    Also, on a personal note, Richard reminded me that my own six foot two, size 12 shoes, but not yet 16 year old son is still a child inside a man’s body, even teachers can be deceived by outward appearance and treat different to classmates!

    mr and mrs Armitage thankyou for giving us a decent youung man. The interview was lovely reading. He sounds like the sort of man you could have a nice chat and a cup of tea with all my friends. I wish that i knew him when he was in between jobs he could have done my kitchen floor !! i wonder if he’s any good at bathroom floors ha ha. looking forward to spooks.

    I thought it was a fabulous interview. It seemed genuine and well written. I am so excited for the next series of spooks!
    My mum has her copy of S7 Spooks on DVD dispatched before me tho!!

    A lovely interview. Allison is an admirer of Richard and his work and you could tell that as you read the interview.
    It was also a nice treat in my Weekend magazine this Saturday(cue rolling of eyes from my Husband).That picture is gorgeous btw..swoon.
    I totally agree with Allison when she said we should have him plugged into the National Grid this winter as he would keep us all warm. My energy bill would be cheaper!!

    I was under the impression that he could not say anything that would make me adore him even more.This interview allows us a little peep at the private man and he’s truly lovely.He has his feet firmly on the ground with no trace of a swollen Hollywood head….AHHHHH….

    Wonderful interview! And she is so right – this success coming to Richard a little later in life gives us a proper man, a grown-up who is well-grounded and not one to buy into hype. Absolutely have that old-time flim star charisma(And while there is mention of the accursed circus on the page, praise the Lord, she didn’t ask him about it in the interview!!)
