Here’s a description of the programme:
Over the last 20 years, Andrea Turkalo has been studying the complex social lives and unique vocalisations of the Central Africa’s Forest Elephants, getting to know over 4,000 intimately. As new acoustic research sheds light on the many mysteries that still surround forest elephant society, will these endangered elephants finally speak out and tell Andrea what it is they need to survive?

I wonder if the ratings will be higher than usual for this programme.

I hope there aren’t any sad scenes in this documentary. I hate to see animals suffering and nature can be really cruel sometimes. I may have to switch over if it mentions ivory hunters or the like, Richard or no Richard. Maybe I will just listen to him without watching. I’m glad the powers that be have realised what an asset Richard’s voice is. It really is quite unique. It reminds me a little of the quality of Richard Burton’s voice. Although Burton had speech lessons to lose his Welsh accent, there was just enough left of it to give it a rich quality. I think the same is true of Richard. Some times his words can seem slightly clipped but it still retains it’s individuality and softness. There is no mistaking his voice it’s very distinctive. Now if only we could persuade him to sing life would be complete. I won’t hold my breath though!

Oooh, I sincerely hope I can get at least the audio of this downloaded . . . just imagining the gorgeous vowel sounds with that melted honey voice saying “jungle” makes me bit wild, tee hee.
