Thanks for posting some audioclips for those of us who missed the broadcast. Unfortunately, it’s not longer available to listen to on the BBC iPlayer. If anybody’s saved it in its entirety and would be willing to share it, I’d be eternally grateful.
I’ll upload it later today Lexie, and will announce it on the news page so you can find it.

I am really looking forward to this. I saw the TV version with Sean Bean ( and then had to wait nearly 10 years for it to come out on DVD). It will be interesting to listen to Richard in the role of Lovelace ( yet another nasty piece of work!). I am sure that he will deliver a brilliant and subtle performance.
Since this is an adaption from a classic book, I wonder if it will be available for purchase after it has aired?

I wish Radio 4 could transmit as far as Australia. You are SOOOOOOO lucky! I guess we’ll have to wait for the BBC-CD version (sigh…)
Reply from admin: You will be able to listen to BBC iplayer after each episode has aired as this will be available to non-UK residents as well! Click on the Classic Serial webpage link above to listen to previous broadcasts.

I think the role of Robert Lacey sounds like Richard will be playing yet another complicated and eventually guilt-ridden character with echoes of Sir Guy. Oh Richard you dirty dog you! It’s a credit to your acting skills and talent that you can make us love even the most hideous of characters. Can’t wait to hear you on R4.

Reply from admin: Yes the previous serial dramas have been available for 7 days following the broadcast.

Wow — I wonder which version of Clarissa they will read from? Or if they will just read letters from the same date from the 4 characters. The original book is over 1500 pages long! I had forgotten about the film version – something to check out.

Note to self: remember to keep breathing!
Richard has been doing such great voice work recently, it make the pain of losing Sir Guy a little less. Bravo Richard!
